My research interests
I am interested in the ecological consequences of marine organismic biology. This sometimes takes me far out on either side of the organism-ecology interface, either delving into sub-cellular levels for the keys to phenomena such as sexual selection or particle processing in suspensivores, or critically examining the most appropriate statistical foundations for population-level work or modelling growth.
Among my pet functional interests are feeding, development, and reproduction. The marine organisms I study are bivalves and gastropods, although I have also worked on crustaceans, shorebirds, and the fascinating world of meiofauna.
I like to involve keen students in all of this work, and transfer whatever wisdom I may have garnered over the years.
